December, 2003 - Getting Creative with Foil
I had some friends over for dinner
last night and I decided to go with a big turkey for the small get-together.
My friends have a great sense of humour, so I got a little creative
with the cooking. A few weeks ago, someone gave me a decorative
tip for Christmas dinner: cut up little pieces of foil in whatever
shape you want and place it on the turkey before you put it in the
oven. When it's done, your artwork shows up lighter than the rest
of the bird.
When the time was right, I presented my masterpiece:

Of
course, I had no idea that my friends' parents (who I had never
met before) would be tagging along. I tried to cover up Bikini Bird
with some leaf lettuce, but my friend's dad insisted he wanted to
carve the bird. There was a moment of awkward silence as he unveiled
the tanned turkey. Then he averted his eyes and asked who wanted
the breast ....uh....white meat and who liked the dark.
Me and my bright ideas.
