December, 2003 - Drive Safe, Drive Silver
Scientists have concluded that people who drive
brown cars are most likely to get into an accident. Researchers
from the University of Auckland in New Zealand examined the effect
car colour had on the risk of injury in more than 1,000 drivers
between 1998-99, taking into account age, sex, seat belt use and
road conditions. The study found that after brown cars, black
and green vehicles also had a higher risk of accident, while yellow,
grey, red and blue cars were not significantly different to white
cars. Drivers of silver cars are the least likely to suffer serious
injuries in a crash than motorists with vehicles of another colour.
My
apologies if this applies to you, but if you're running around
in a brown or green car (or worse yet, brown AND green), what
exactly are you thinking??? Brown and green are best left to mother
nature, unless of course, you're trying to save Private Ryan and
need to blend in with the environment. Is it any wonder that these
cars have the highest collision rates? "It's a tree, it's
a leaf.......its...it's moving! Dang it, I gawd-dang bang it!"
Of
course, if anyone is thinking of buying me a brown or green car,
I....uh....hehe.....I was just kidding. In fact, just the other
day I took a green car out for a test drive. Did I mention I just
LOVE this particular shade of green?
